This is a custom Mogami snake with the special connectors for the Sony 3348 (PCM3348, PCM-3348, PCM-3348A, PCM-3348S) DASH digital reel to reel multitrack recorder. It is in excellent condition and of the very highest quality.
This cable has three round multipin connectors on it.
These round connectors fit all known variants of the Sony 3348.
The Sony PCM3324, PCM3324A, and PCM3324S have XLRs and can not use this.
Sometime between the introduction of the 3324 and the 3348, Sony got wise and used multipins instead of acres of XLRs, but sadly, instead of using ELCO/EDACs, they chose their local kung-fu connector, JAE, and used three 27-pin JAE circular connectors for 24 channels of audio.
One cable is not enough for all the I/O on a machine, though, the Sony PCM3348 would use two of these females for output and two males for input.
Please check your machine to be sure that these are the right connectors.
One end has three (3) female (not male) JAE 27-pin locking circular connectors, numbered 1-8, 9-16, and 17-24. It is very, very neatly heatshrinked and all covered in three sections of woven 1/2" Expando tubing.
The cable is the very best multicore cable for analog audio, Mogami part number 2937 Multi Microphone cable, 27PR26, or twenty-seven (27) balanced pairs of 26 guage wire. It is made for routing 27 channels (27 balanced pairs) of balanced analog audio. What the Sonys do with the 3 channels above 24 is unknown to me. The twenty-seven pairs are all inside a very soft and flexible outer jacket. The whole cable is about 7/8" thick. Each wire is neatly labeled "1", "2", and so forth, and underlined, so as not to confuse 6 with 9.
The other end is cut and bare, ready for you to solder your own XLR or TRS fanout, ELCO (ELCO 90 in the 24-track rental standard would be the smart move), DB-25 to interface to Pro Tools HD, or directly onto a patch bay.
This cable is a few inches over six feet (6') long.
This is the ultimate Sony audio snake, and quite a hard to find item.
If you need more than 24 channels, or need 24 for input and 24 for output, or whatever, I have one more cable exactly like it, for a total of 2.
This would be an OUTPUT cable for 24 channels of balanced audio.
This came from The Enterprise in Burbank, a top notch studio that closed down last year.
This is in excellent condition with little wear.
Defects:
None.

I need to say that there has been some confusion about this, but I think it has been cleared up. I have personally examined many Sony DASH recorders and can verify the following:

This is the only male cable I have.
This would be an INPUT cable for 24 channels of balanced audio.
I also have three cables just like the one shown here, but with three female (not male) connectors on one end, see above. This would be an INPUT cable for 24 channels of balanced audio.
